About The Lighthouse Movement
The Mission
A movement bringing together three million Christians with a unified vision to share Christ’s light with every man, woman, and young person in America by the end of the year 2000.
What is a Lighthouse?
A person, family, a Bible study group, or anyone committed to pray and care for people within their neighborhood, workplace, or school community – building relational bridges leading to opportunities to share Jesus, as God leads.
How can a person become a Lighthouse?
Make a commitment to pray for, care for and share the gospel for a designated list of neighbors, friends, or acquaintances who do not know Christ.
Register as a participant, thereby tapping into a wealth of ministry resources and "gathering together" in a movement to shine Christ’s light. |
How does it work?
Prayer calls God’s Spirit into action to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of others – in neighborhoods, schools, the workplace. There are creative ways to pray, including:
Group Prayer: Claiming Jesus’ promise from Matthew 18:20, ". . .where two or more are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
"Prayerwalks:" A way for individuals, couples, or groups to pray for people by name as they walk together past their homes.
Privately: Making use of a journal to track prayers and answers. |
Pray for people by name, and ask God to minister to their needs and BLESS them – Body: health, protection, strength; Labor: work, income, security; Emotional: joy, peace, hope; Social: love, marriage, family, friends; Spiritual: salvation, faith, grace.
Ask that God use you as a conduit of His love and care.
Ask the Lord to build relationships and open ways for you to share your faith in non-threatening ways. |
Care for people on the prayer list is a living witness to the love of Jesus Christ. Through warm-hearted words and deeds, ways are opened to share His good news. Ideas include:
Perform acts of kindness that demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.
Build personal relationships as God provides natural opportunities.
Reclaim a sense of community by bringing people together for coffee or backyard barbecues. |
Share the gospel, as opportunities arise. Open the way by:
Displaying a Lighthouse Movement window decal, thereby identifying your home as a Lighthouse and opening the door for questions.
Sharing hope, prayer, and faith through conversations.
Embracing the opportunities God gives to let your light shine in a sensitive, natural way. |
Many Beacons. . .One Light!
In Matthew 18:20, Jesus promises that ". . .where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." When you join The Lighthouse Movement, you will be part of a nationwide network -- people and organizations who, like you, are committed to be bright beacons, guiding others to Christ.
